Answer :I think they may have created a software with information on number of seats in trains and train routes and timings and installed this software in a server. They connect other computers to it over internet or intranet from which the railway employees who do reservation connect to the main server and complete the reservation bookings. they have made this reservation software available to website www.irctc.co.in
